An Adventure at Redrock Canyon Grill
Enormous black doors loom as you approach Redrock Canyon Grill. It's warm out so you linger outside a little longer, peeking at the fire crackling on their patio. Golden yellow umbrellas flap in the breeze over-top of diners enjoying happy hour drinks. When you enter, beautiful chandeliers fly above as warm chit-chat hits your ears. Welcome to Redrock Canyon Grill.
Somehow the heavens blessed Overland Park, Kansas with a beautiful, sunny and warm day on my trip to visit Redrock Canyon Grill. Redrock's patio is absolutely wonderful. It's large and has multiple areas - tables, bar seating and raised seating overlooking the green grass outside Metcalf Ave. We chose a table spot next to a large, stone fireplace.
Redrock Canyon Grill has a great "Social Hour", Monday through Friday, 3:30pm - 6:00pm. My eyes immediately fell onto the Moscow Mule first. It's not served in a copper mug as you might expect, but a super chilly, stone mug. This is an offering on their Social Hour menu! The Social Hour also has insanely cheap domestic bottles (only $2!) and delicious wines and Chardonnay (my favorite) for only $5.
For appetizers we chose the Stuffed Poblano (actually... two of them, hehe) and the deviled eggs (WHOA, THEY'RE HUGE) - both dishes exemplify their Southwest + American style cuisine. I am not a huge fan of chicken dishes usually (it's stuffed with chicken, among other things) but the Stuffed Poblano was FANTASTIC. The cheeses, salsa, sour cream and chicken go together perfectly. We demolished all of the dishes.
For meals we chose the Theta Burger and the Chop House Chicken Salad. I won't lie, I was definitely hunting around for dishes that said "cheese" somewhere in the ingredients. Both plates were extremely colorful and fun to share with my parents. With the reception of these dishes, I realized Redrock Canyon REALLY prides themselves in LARGE dishes! We had so much food! Even the salad was big.
When our waiter (who was amazing) spoke the words "key lime pie" while discussing the dessert menu, our eyes lit up. Prettttyyy sure the slice we received was a third of a pie! It was insane. Even after all the food I talked about above, we FINISHED IT! It was tangy, light and refreshing.
My parents had a fantastic time. They live in Leawood and love to go out on Fridays for lunch. They spoke about how excited they'd be to come back to Redrock Canyon on their next lunch outing. Thanks for joining me, 'rents!
